This game urgently needs a CUSTOM GAME

I didn’t care about chaos theory or campaign…
I bought the game for only one reason : play a sandbox mode with money, staff, researchs and expeditions and build my own park.
I can’t...
How is it possible the devs didn’t add this to the game?

I loved JPOG and the random islands and dig sites! I am very dissapointed that there is none of that in the new game...
I just want to bulid my own Park! No story modes or challanges like c mon it aint gonna be fun after its done!
Sandbox is too boring for me.. and already done chaos and challanges what is it for me now? w8 for update i guess which may never come!
First games are always the best

Sorry I am a bit angry

Why are you disappointed? That implies you expected there to be random islands like JPOG. When this is an unrelated game. There's no reason why this would have features just because a different game had them. I don't think this will ever have anything like completely random islands. It's just a completely different game.

Personally I'm not a fan of sandbox either. I'd like there to be more options or like has been suggested, some type of custom mode. But I've already put over 40 hours into the game in campaign, chaos theory and challenge modes and I can probably still spend another 40 hours in there before I'm done. I don't understand what there is to be disappointed about.

Just logging in to bump this thread, I do software delivery for a living, absolutely no reason to not implement this. It is already in the game just needs to be added as an option to the sandbox mode, it is a VERY SIMPLE build. Only reason to not implement is a stubborn development team that isn't interested in modifying its design to meet the customer's wants. That said, on role out it is all hands on deck for bug fixing so wait until we start seeing quality of life improvements before you really get upset about this not being worked in.

Just came here to say that i agree with this idea and just want to give visibility to this thread so that more people can see it and the dev team starts to think about this..
Also about the idea of a custom island generator, i think the main problem is that this game is available for consoles as well, and they have so much more limitations than pcs, and i think that the main setback Frontier feels is not to make something that wouldn't work on a console but would on a pc, so that no one gets left out.
Series X|S and PS5 are fine it’s those stupid Xbox one and PS4’s that are the problem

I literally signed up for the forums to bump this thread. I bought the game expecting there to be a game mode where I could start a park, do research, get fossils. I blasted through the challenge modes to unlock skins for my perfect park and then realized that there was in fact no such mode in game. Really disappointing, put me off playing for a few days. I enjoyed the time playing, but it really is a pretty bad feeling knowing that the mode I bought the game to play (which was available in JWE1) isn't in the game. Hoping that the devs see this thread and comment on whether or not they plan to implement more customization options for sandbox, like turning on research, incubation time/failure, and expeditions.

To add to this rightfully growing megathread, I was a huge fan of JWE despite it's many many flaws and believed beyond a shadow of a doubt that this sequel would be a clearcut improvement. I came to this forum when JWE launched, I took part in the discussions, organised threads made many suggestions and much of it, echoed by the myriad voices on here and across the internet actually ended up making it into the game.

I was utterly and completely disappointed to find that after all these lessons that should have been learned, Frontier somehow launched a Park Builder game without a dedicated Park Builder Mode. This is what your game is about... how can there be such a fundamental misunderstanding of this extremely simple fact? How can you miss something so plainly obvious? Its like if someone put out a multiplayer shooter but forgot to put an actual multiplayer and then only gave you the tutorial and customisation screen.

I have nothing to play in this game.

This should not in any concievable way have been the case.

I would refund this if I could.

Please fix this and maybe I'll feel like less of an idiot for having believed in you for all these years, then we can start working on things like not being able to mix aviary and regular dinosaur exhibits, yes?

I don't think it even needs to be a separate game mode. Just have a "standard" mode on Sandbox that starts you with nothing. It can have difficulty settings and all that, but the big thing is that it turns the game into a free build park management game. I don't think it would be that hard. Just settings in sandbox that turns it into challenge mode without the limitations (Like herbs/carns only, limited staff, limited buildings, etc).

I so hard agree with this. There's gonna be 2 major groups of players, I think, and people feel free to correct me if you don't fit into these groups.

A) Players who want to worry about the business side of running a park, who enjoy variable amounts of pressure to make the right decisions during park growth. To me, the fun of a park builder is the ratings and staff management and research, pushing out incomplete genomes to fund further park development, with the ability to change storm frequency or starting funds or disease frequency depending on how challenging I want the game to be or which game systems I enjoy more/less. Players like myself get through the missions, run a sandbox game, and wonder why the heck I'm not allowed to choose a map, have access to all dig sites, and play the game I enjoyed through the campaign without missions or storms or breed restrictions. Why can I even build a science center and expedition center in sandbox?

Sorry for the rant.

B) Players who want god-mode free-for-all play-with-my-toys dinosaur park game have to spend hours grinding out missions with tornadoes tearing up their park and T-Rex being delivered day 1 and escaping to eat their guests. Why? Sandbox is a totally different experience as it exists now, and I don't understand why these two game modes as they exist are tied together at all.

Please, if anyone's out there, I want to love this game so bad but I want a hybrid game mode, where I can scale and toggle systems but keep the sense of work and progression. And those poor sandbox players, just let them play with their toys! Forcing them through missions HAS to be turning those types away, right? DAMN IT
