RE: New Horizons.

Nobody found it yet or is it in Sol? iirc last time I was there was 3 Voyager POIs, maybe one of those was supposed to be NH? Aint been for ages though so dunno if its still there or been corrected if it was or what. Just seems strange if nobody has yet found it. If they have and its a POI or whatever then just ignore this post.
That took just a few hours after the Galnet article.😋
Now it pops up on scan, as Ancient Probe.

Thats what I expected, just the posts here made me unsure and doubt it or went over my head. So what are we looking for exactly then? Im lost now. Bear in mind my physics and astronomy aint up to much so I may have missed the entire point. I get that someone is seeing if they broadcast every hour but not sure what the rest is about or what the mystery is :)

New Horizons probe is in Sol (was there last night). FDev officially announced it was in the game in April 3304. Not sure if it was added around then or the got tired of waiting and were pushing the players to find it. The major commonality is they all had a flyby at Jupiter. I think the Voyagers were there since the beginning but I have no proof either way on New Horizons.

Played around with stelarium on lunch .... Ya I forgot the Greater Mystery of Eleusis is set around the Autumn Equinox and the new moon. So I assumed around Sept 6 for this year... and looks like the cross would be in Gemini.... The closest thing to a dawn star would probably be Regulus?. Anyhoooo will play more tonight.

LS on Thursday, on Twitter they are asking for Qs, this one popped up, totally irrelevant to the subject and the guest ofc but can anyone confirm that this was said at some point? As in remember who said it or provide a link?
If this is true that means you need to either jump very deep into the galaxy (Fuel scoop and highest sidewinder engineering would be the ly limit) or it is a near very distant star in a system where a sidewinder would just about run out of fuel getting to it..... speaking of which, everyone's trying Sol what about that free anaconda? does travelling to Hutton orbital bring you towards sol? its the furthest star I can think of and I would say a nightmare in a sidewinder, fits in line with the old lore also

I'm a bit curious to why they chose the X towards Taurus/Gemini? The milkyway is almost not visible in that direction. The X in Sagittarius is far more visible.

The ecliptic crossing the Milkyway fits nicely with the name Raxxla. Milk in Greek is Γάλα. Putt a couple of Xs in the middle (there are two crossings for the circles) and you get Γάxxλα. That's not to shabby. 😁

So looking at this again with stellarium I think the X in Sagittarius corresponds with the Lesser Mysteries (around the spring equinox) - While the Milky Way there is fancier - the effect of the Zodiacal Light is not as straight up and down - skews off to the south and is lower on the horizon (using Eleusis as location and March 12 of this year as probable time edit would be nice if i paid attention to things... I read new moon but it was 20 days after new moon... so ya well doesnt really affect the x locations...gerrr but indicates the moon plays a part in it...) . In the Fall the milky way might not be as fancy but the Zodiacal Light is much closer to straight up from the horizon - makes for a prettier "path of souls". And lets face it Heaven might be bright, but most souls were probably headed the other way.... don't forget Hades is where that hot chic Persephone is ;)

YA so a an X roughly in Sagittarius at Spring Equinox (Polis?)
An X roughly in Gemini at Fall Equinox (1 Geminorum?)

Roughly shouldn't be necessary in ED. The milky way is the galactic plane. Zero on the Y coordinate(Sag. A is at about - 20, but that is basically nothing).
The ecliptic is Earth's orbit line.

good point - ya i was just kinda going through the motions from the perspective of our Eleusian devotees... and using stellarium. But ya should be easy enough to put down an axis showing the equinoxes which is where the two circles cross.

Hi, I've been reading through a few pages here and there. Many interesting theories and ideas!

I was wondering how likely it is that finding Raxxla is tied to discovering something with a specific ship. Would it be possible to limit finding answers to a parameter like that?

Just saw this in a post on reddit, haven't read through the whole thing, but seems to have connections to Raxxla. If it's been seen before, please disregard, but I thought it might contain something useful...?

Anything’s possible, but IMHO limiting Raxxla to a single ship type is unlikely.
This is an urban myth that surfaces occasionally. It seems to be tied to either (a) some loose thinking around the original Dark Wheel novella by Robert Holdstock, where the hero stole a Cobra from Tionisla Orbital Graveyard (sadly not implemented in ED), or (b) even looser thinking which involved an old comment that Drew Wagar‘s Formidine Rift mystery could be found in a short range ship. One of the FRift abandoned station logs (see Canonn website for info) describes a female (Sidewinder if memory serves) pilot returning from her mission to find the parent Anaconda destroyed. It is supposed that pilot was Rebecca Weston, the old lady in Drew’s two ED novels Reclamation and Premonition and who apparently managed to return safely to the human bubble. There is nothing in the lore that ties the search for Raxxla to a particular ship type.

Anything on Reddit should be treated with utmost caution! It has often been a lair of trolls and hoaxers.
Bluecrash’s ideas have been posted in this thread (and he is active on the Independent Raxxla Hunters Discord server)...Up to you if you want to believe him.

Welcome :)

Yes its possible but probably and hopefully unlikely, theres no lore reason for it unless it only has small landing pads. I think if anything its more probable it could be found in any ship, including a basic Sidewinder with A rated FSD, it may just take longer. Excluding players is not really the Frontier way but there may be some pre-requisites we just dont know.

Its one of the many theories floating around, I think on that particular one you have to make up your own mind whether its useful to us or a Doctor though. That particular person has a history of certain behaviour and just leading people with vague clues though. It seems they have a small following now. Just be wary is the best advice, but thats the same for anybody on the internet, no matter how charming or convincing they may appear they may not be who they appear to be or who they believe themselves to be. Tinfoil is great but delusions are often dangerous. :)

Random thoughts about our Winking Cat friend again...
Path of the Winking Cat...
09 JUN 3304 - Steals Youscape from Alioth..... Youscape being a piece of art that alters itself based off of "viewer reactions" (so starts off hinting that the path is interactive?) Incidentally the artist who created Youscape is Barclay Uxor . The Name of the first system after Sol in the "Tour of the Universe" was Altuxor.... Altuxor also being the setting for the book "Where the Time Winds Blow"

20 SEP 3304 The New Dawn collection by Lal Candromir is stolen. New Dawn of course part of the ever present references to Horizon and probably the Morning Star. Lal Candromir.... reminds me of the earlier post about the Andromedaries... where they are pointing out the Camel / Andromeda constellation mentioned before. And of course the planet in the Altuxor system was named Kamelos... which was actually a reference to the Chameleon constellation I believe ... but maybe there is some confusion going on here....

01 JAN 3305 Giant Holoscupture of the Federation Symbol is stolen.... Have you looked at the Federation Symbol- What is it of? I always thought it was the first 4 planets in our solar system... but not sure now

FederationInsignia.png

14 FEB 3305 The stolen pieces include Rembrandt’s Self-Portrait with Two Circles (17th Century), Guernica by Picasso (20th Century) and Terra Absentia by Zoe Okeke (23rd Century) ... There is a hodgepodge of imagery here ... not sure what to make of it, but Kioko McGrath has an interesting last name... reminds me of an old Cobra.
31 AUG 3305 Penance Street by artist Megan Madigan is returned. Madigan meaning little dog... Canis Minor. Penance Street makes me think of a pilgrams path or possibly the sacred way.

Didnt see any overt references to the earlier holdstock books in the later cat thefts... perhaps this path diverges? But the last two thefts remind me of MBs tatoo and Drabble "The Space inbetween" Was thinking of it in relation to earlier greek idea of a purgatory... a celestial hades... somewhere inbetween earth and the fixed stars

Funny thing about Altuxor. It has a sea called the Paluberion Sea. So does Lave. :giggle:
Holdstock reuses that name, as well as the Raxxla name.

Ya i get the impression he had a fascination with Ideal Types.... he would pick up a theme and repeat it changing it throughout several books. Thats why I think that people who look at his Alien World or Dark Wheel for info on Raxxla might want to look at some of his earlier works to see how the ideas developed. ... Wonder what Paluberion refers to?

edit: Ah palus - latin for marshy.....

Im thinking the same. Hesperus proved it is very likely and then you have asteroid stations and orbis in belts.

Im thinking the same.

Im dreading it :) But its more likely now than ever which is why Im clutching at straws trying to find anything that may point to / hint at something rather than visit every Belt in every system just to find nothing. So far afaik all Belt ones have been number 1, whether A1, B1 or C1 or whatever but can't hold to that and still cant bring myself to drop in on just them just in case. Hoping beyond reason that theres some sign, easily overlooked but something just to say 'This one is worth investigating by the way' if we know what to look for. Still havent been back to Hesperus ones though to check them out and even if they do then DW or Raxxla may not abide by the same rule...but its that or drop into every belt. All 16 of them round that L Star with nothing else in system at all and I can't, I just can't.
