PS5 - performance and quality modes

Quality mode is broken currently on PS4 Pro (and on PS5 in backwards compatibility) and is not as graphically impressive as it was at release. You will get a solid 60fps performance though on the PS5.

So are you saying quality mode is doing 60fps....but broken? Is it still the best graphics quality option to use?
Or is it best to use performance mode because only that mode does 60fps?

Basically what's the best option to use for best results on PS5?

Performance is great in both modes, graphically it's arguably better in Quality mode but, not as good as it used to be on Pro at release.

So yes. Quality mode should still give you 60fps on the PS5.

Both modes on the PS4 Pro target 60fps. The Pro struggles on Quality to maintain this, the PS5 doesn't appear to.

I don't think anyone has done an actual proper performance test on PS5 which confirms this. So it's all a bit subjective.

That's interesting, thanks for that, nice to have confirmation of what I think I am experiencing with it so far.

On my PS5 the speed of the menu's alone is good reason to play on PS5, but battles with many ships where the PS4 pro struggled, the PS5 has no issues at all.

Yeah loading speeds , station menu speeds are all much improved. Frame rates appear smooth and consistent. I will say that when in a wing, there can be some stuttering, I assume based on the internet connection quality of the person with the poorest connection within the wing. So it can vary.

There is some question about the game's pre-baked display settings between performance and quality modes. The textures, shadows, aliasing etc. all appear to be let's say suboptimal in both modes.

The other thing is it's rendering at 1080p so there's no improvement in terms of resolution.

You get a solid 60fps in quality mode on the PS5 (I tried it myself). But aus stormy stated, quality mode is graphically not that impressive (especially the resolution could use a bump).

What I really like though is, that the load times are quite a bit faster (for all the menus, e.g. opening galaxy map, station services etc.).

Frontier could get a lot of interest if they looked at doing a 4k quality mode patch on the PS4 version that the PS5 could use. With the delay to console version until later in the year it could bridge the gap a bit and bring some money in.

It could, they could, but they won't. They have confirmed this already. Apathy 👎👎
