My Franchise Zoo is Ruined

I have a fairly small Franchise Zoo, but one that I spent days creating. The main feature right now is a Riverwalk, which is a continuous walking trail where the guests enter the habitats of the peacocks, flamingos, aardvarks, pangolins, okapi, springbok, gazelle & antelope. There is a continuous river that flows through every habitat. I have had this setup for a long time, at least 50 in-game years and it's worked well until today.

Today, I spent about 3 hours in Sandbox mode creating a building for my spiders. Then I came back into Franchise Mode and started placing the building, creating the paths etc. The building had a solar panel upstairs (with a hole in the roof for it to function). This is when the bug tsunami started. First, the mechanics refused to recognize the solar panel. So, I lowered it to ground level, still inside the building and still functional. Didn't help, they couldn't recognize it, so had to destroy it. As I'm dealing with this, I started to get tons of notifications about animals in the aforementioned Riverwalk that are "dying of thirst". what, they literally live on the river. I hustled over there & tried to get as many as I could into Quarantine, but I lost a few of my best Gold tier flamingos, and a couple of antelopes. I decided to address the antelope problem, since that enclosure was now empty, so I went to the trade center to see what I had, and would need to purchase either a male or female. I open my Trade Center...what! I have 72 animals in storage? This can't be right. I decide to filter by Thomson's Gazelle & get rid of some of those...try to sell the first one, and there's no sell option. Why? Because he's 0.0 years old. How in the world did that happen? So I filter my Trade Center by age and discover there are over 20 animals in there that are all 0.0 years old. This definitely wasn't something that I did. So I move all of the babies into their respective habitats to clear room in the Trade Center. I unpause the game to allow them time to get cleared out, then I start getting warnings for every single habitat along the Riverwalk saying that it's dirty. That can't be right, like I said, I've had this thing running smooth for at least 5 decades. The water suddenly looks brown. So, I use the water heat map, all looks fine, except the river is filthy. I click on the water pump that manages the river, and it says "bodies of water managed - 0". Hmm, maybe the water pump is bugged, so I'll plop down a new one. Same result...no water pumps recognize the river anymore. So, I'm frustrated and seemingly out of options. Running the game will eventually kill every animal in the Riverwalk. So, I click "Save & Quit" and CTD. Perfect.

Wow that sucks :(
Maybe try to "break" the river into pieces and put more water filters there? I know you usually only need one filter, but I could imagine that there is some buggy thing going on and the filter doesn't recognize this large river as one source of water to be cleaned.
I don't know if the number 0 is really right.
I had a problem with the water in the african scenario. My idea is that too many animals and too many differenct species are just too much for your river.

Don't get me started on that scenario. I'm having the same bug problem with water filters and water cleanliness, which makes that scenario impassable for me. I placed 10 different water filtration stations in the very center of that lake as well as along the banks, and it did absolutely nothing.

same bug for me : impossible to pass that african carreer scenario bug because of water filter bug. this can be linked to water bug which is not counted sometimes, or can be negative. In that african scenario you can't remove and recreate water.

I just don't understand how it worked perfectly fine for 50 in-game years before this. Obviously, the game recognized it fine for a while. I checked all of my other filters, and they all have a number, except for this one, which is showing 0. Thinking it might be a filter problem, I slid one over (temporary setup for gorilla challenge) enough so that it could catch the river, but it still only displayed "1", even though it was able to reach the river and the gorilla habitat.

Out of curiosity, I guess I want to clarify if it's a recent occurrence just how recent. Was it still working alright after this newest patch and just now bugged, or was it bugged immediately after the patch? I can't think of anything else that would change to make this happen and I haven't used water filters until after the patch, so I can't say personally.

I haven't finished that scenario, so I'm unfamiliar with the bug. In my zoo, it doesn't matter which filter touches this river, it just no longer gets filtered, like it isn't recognized as a water source anymore. I can delete filters, place new ones, slide some existing ones over, and it doesn't matter. None of them will filter it.

As far as I know, we've only had one patch, right? If that's the one you're talking about, it shouldn't have had any effect. I've played dozens of hours since Thursday and these shenanigans just happened an hour ago.

I feel you :(

Just yesterday my zoo started bugging out completely. Randomly newborn animals were moved to the trade center - like you described - and my flamingos starve and die, because the two keepers assigned to the habitat won't ever put in enough food.

I stopped playing for now... It's just not fun anymore with all the bugs. Starting from feeding, over cleaning and now the random animal moving...

I know right? It's like they purposely made it annoying. I don't know if this is a bug or you just have to deal with this in that scenario :(

I have seen a response in other threads that the are aware larger areas of water are not getting cleaned by water filters fast enough and thus they stay in the "being cleaned" state and never move all the way to "clean." This is something they are looking into.

It also doesn't help that animal droppings which roll into the water will NOT be cleaned by keepers as they will not enter the water whatsoever. With my Hippos and etc I sometimes have to remove all the water from natural sources so that keepers can walk into the bottom and clean it up -- then I replace the water and repeat when needed. It stinks, but it's what it is until something is improved.

Wow ok, this might explain the same problem Ive been having in the campaign where out of nowhere water pumps are not cleaning the lake in the middle of the map. I tried placing multiple pumps and nothing happened. Can you log this in the issue tracker and I will add my case to it after I look into it again to see if I get that -0 figure like you did?

We need floaters that cling to the shore.

I stopped playing days ago because of that 0.0 years bug. I've got clones of most of my animals, which became infants. Do you imagine, what that means having 10 cloned tortoises 0.0 years young when they need almost 23 years to mature? You can not get rid of them, you have no place for them. I've reported as a bug, still no changes.

i have stopped to play in franchise mode and closed my franchise zoo, because of such bugs, after loosing so much animals. Its is so much frustrating!
I found no way to restore an old save or manual save in this mode to have the zoo in the status it was before hitting such bug, and autosave overwrite files in few minutes.

Solar panel inside a building?
Does that work?
Of course it does. Unfortunately, the game treats glass roof panels like any other, so you have to remove the roof panel above it. With my original design, the panel was just below the roof line, so the mechanic would go upstairs to repair it. It had glass roof, but evidently PZ thinks sunlight can't go through glass, so I removed the one panel.
