List of long standing (small) requests

Limpets should stay with ship similar to ammo (switching ships).

I don't care if its stored like cargo, whatever I don't care. If I have 20 limpets in ship A, there is no need to xfer them to ship B.

Sometime has passed since the FC release so I added these 2 as they are now "long standing requests" without FDEV feedback too:
  • Bridge View in the Fleet Carriers: add a bridge where we can look around and control our FC and see it jumping
  • Customized salute for the Fleet Carrier owner: owners of FC should have a special salute and a special threatment when they arrive and dock to their own FC. Currently they are threated like anyone else and even attacked if they do something wrong.

In general, the features I'm most interested in are ones which add or enable more fun activities. I can deal with the lack of bug fixes and quality of life improvements as long as there are more fun activities added. I hope that's what Odyssey will add, but I'm not holding my breath.

But 'fun' activities are entirely subjective, what I might consider amazingly enjoyable, you may think 'Meh!'...
I shouldn't have used the word fun and I didn't explain myself as well as I should have.

What I mean is new playable features and features/changes which open up new play-ability as apposed to feature changes which just slightly change the existing game.

Many of the features which Frontier adds are not really play-able in that they may be just static places to visit/experience once instead of things to be played over and over and eventually mastered.
I would prefer the addition of more play-ability as opposed to the addition of more one time experiences.

Even Odyssey's new walking on the surface of a planets will be less play-able and more just a one time experience unless there are several completely new things to do as a result of it.

I would, for instance, prefer the enhancement of the mission system to allow deeper more involved missions. Several current space games, and even past ones, have far better mission systems. Escort missions, which were promised ages ago, could be a result of this.

It was a throw-away comment to illustrate, simply, how 'content' might be consumed :) (not a personal slight)

I agree with your comments above wholeheartedly - we do have much 'consumable content' in the game which is single (or re-visitable after some time, just because we can) sourced and, in my opinion, some of the very best in story-lining (Thargoids & Guardians) has been apparently abandoned for the forseeable future, which is disheartening solely because of the promise those lines held.

Perhaps Odyssey will bring, along with the 'legs' content, the return of 'old' storylines along wiht new ones - fingers crossed (y)

Great list! I'd personally add:

-Ability to sort stored modules by name/type/category/degree of engineering etc.
-Ability to sort stored ships by ID/name/type/value/degree of engineering/last used etc.
-History tab on nav panel showing a scrollable list of the last 100 systems/stations/settlements/POIs etc visited to enable you to easily and quickly plot a course back to somewhere you've been recently directly from the cockpit without opening the galaxy map.
-Ability to plot a course to the next location in a mission directly from the cockpit without opening the galaxy map.
-Head slaved weapons as an option in addition to fixed/gimballed/turrets.
-More module storage (e.g. +100 modules per elite rank)
-More bookmarks and a "Notes" field so you can remind yourself why you bookmarked each location.
-Subdivide bookmarks by type (systems/stations/settlements/POIs etc).
-Own fleet carrier always visible on nav panel even if other carriers are filtered out (with an option to always make it the first item on the list).
-A single fleet carrier symbol to indicate the presence of 1 or more carriers by a body in the system map, colour coded to indicate number (e.g. grey=1, green = 2-5, yellow= 6-10, orange = 11-15, red = 16) rather than repeated symbols cluttering the map.
-In addition to bridge/flight deck views, the ability to cycle through a range of external cameras at different angles around a fleet carrier.
-Ability to save one or more custom external camera views per ship so you can position a camera as you like it relative to your ship, return to the cockpit view and then go back to your custom view immediately without having to reposition it again, (with a keybind which cycles from cockpit view -> custom view 1 -> custom view 2-> cockpit view).
-Any time a material name is displayed anywhere it should be accompanied by the grade e.g. G5 Military Supercapacitors.
-Once unlocked, Powerplay weapons should be permanently available.
-Engineers should sell all grades of the types of modules they modify.
-Engineers should have a shipyard facility so when engineering multiple ships you can fly there in one ship and have any others you want to upgrade flown there by the AI instead of having to tediously fly back and forth repeatedly.

How would a universal limpet controller work? For example: I have hull damage, stuff to pick up outside the ship and a rock I want to prospect all at the same time......If I fire off a limpit with this controller, what does the limpit do?

I suppose you could buy a generic limpet launcher and then pay extra for (slotless, weightless) software modules for each type of functionality (repair/refuel etc). Then you could assign each type of functionality to a different fire group e.g. fire group A might have the repair software module on primary fire and refuel on secondary, and fire group B might have prospectors on primary and collectors on secondary.

It was described in several proposals. There are few options to do it, the most popular I remember is that you set-up the controller for each function before shooting the limpet from the ship menu on the right.
One limpet can only do 1 job so for 3 scopes like the ones you described you need to shoot 3 limpets:

1. set-up the controller for hull repair and shoot the limpet.
2. then set it up for collecting and shoot again (second limpet)
3. finally set it up for prospecting and shoot the 3rd one.

One controller for 3 functions in this case and you're always prepared for any scenario that is presented to you.

One controller to rule them all!

Currently, how do you fire different limpets?

You select them in your fire groups right?

Same thing with a universal controller - it just acts as though you have multiple limpet controllers installed, no need to do anything fancy with it, same system- you just dont need to use 6000 slots to fit each and every limpet controller, just buy a limpet rack, and fit as many controllers as will go into it.

A third person mode, we have incredible ships with very nice moving parts but we can't see them, or paint jobs, etc ...

An example: the sidewinder, from its cabin, we would have to see the ventilation flaps on the sides and when we deploy the weapons, what covers them (which unfolds upwards) we do not see them either.

While you're at it perhaps these are a few useful suggestions
  • make the suitable ground on planets just a tad less anal. Or at least make the picking order 1 suitable ground 2 alignment. I often find myself nearly crashing ships then being blue in case the program changes it's mind about the suitability of the landing ground
  • Mock me all you want but I'm an autodocker. I would love the game to take over and land me safely instead of getting rammed into rings, sides of the mail slot or on in stations buildings. I have paid for the auto docker and am sacrificing an optional slot for it. Or is this another "with friends like this, who need enemies" working as intended game mechanic?
  • in case it hasn't been mentioned: please make the option to give number input on how many items I want to buy/ sell etc. It's tedious to scroll up and down every time. And make a "sell all" "buy full" option.
  • Edit: forgot one more suggestion. Could there be a psychiatrist present on the collector limpet production line to give them therapy in order to reach suicide isn't a good solution

Evening o7

I'd just like to be able to customise the existing NPC Pictures for our SQN in regards which one appears depending on the Reputation level of the PMF. Not to mention the inconsistency of the Flags in the background of those pictures and their colouring.

Example:

This is the representative at Allied Rep level

and here is one rank below at Friendly

And while at it the colouring of the Uniforms would also be something nice to change. We were purple/bourdeaux once!

Pictures Top to Bottom: Update 2.2 / 2.3 Beta / 2.3

And since this all be cosmetic stuff I wouldn't even be opposed to pay ARX for it. Restricted to be done by the SQN Leader and his assigned Officers only.
