So I'm not a part of the G&O department but I figured I'd share some Geo data I picked up so you could send your guys over there if you like.

Only three hops from Omega Mining is the Gria Drye Y0-E B4-6 System. I found planet 3 A had 11 Geological. I zipped down to this one and saw gas vents with Crystal formations here.

At planet 7 A I scanned it and it had like 22 Geological formations (didn't land)
Finally at planet 7 D it also had about a dozen Geological formations (didn't land)

Hope it helps! :)

Sorry everybody. I've been neglecting this thread. Won't let that happen again.

Anyways her is some updates:

MADRAPTOR is the PG name for our Dept Meets. You can add me as a friend, in-game name; MADRAPTOR, then from there ask to join the private group or just send me your CMDR name and i'll send an invite.

The meet is still planned. I will have the time and place set up within the next couple of hours.

Same goes for the Geyser Shot Event. Nailing down the place in a few hours. Hope to have it so we can do it saturday or sunday before the meets. In the future I'll be going a little ahead of everybody so I can find the next meet and event sites quicker.

Again sorry for the neglect, been spending time in the discords and in-game. If you need to get a hold of me PM and I'll get back to you ASAP. But I will regularly update this thread as well as the website: https://madraptor86.wixsite.com/dw2geobiodpt

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE HARD WORK YOU HAVE DONE. I hope you are all having a great expedition. Now that this extended break is coming to an end I think things will ramp up. If you have missed it, we've also done a focuse search this week that you can still participate in. Go to the numerous B stars just outside of OMega and start hunting down Anemones!

G'day!

I've started capturing some data while exploring, but due to flying in VR it's impossible to submit directly using your input form. Also, afterwards it's a quite cumbersome to use for each and every body individually.

Would you consider creating a CSV import function instead?

EVENT UPDATE:

Due to some uncooperative Geysers we've found a new location. I'll be on site for most of the day until I head of to the next waypoint

Location:
System: Omega Sector EL-Y d86
Planet: Omega Sector EL-Y d86 5 a

Weekly Focused Search:

GEYSERS! GEYSERS! GEYSERS!

This week I want us to take a look at Geysers. What makes them work? Are the more active during the day or night? Does proximity to star or other body effect them?

Let's see what we can learn.

Filled out the online form for a moon that had 50 geo sites on it. The three I went to were all water ice (though one was glowing yellow like lava).
One had black steam, one had red steam and the lava water ice had green steam.

I don't recall off hand where it was, it is the only one on the discovery spreadsheet with my name on it, though.

I'm at the abandoned settlement (questions, how did they get away from the neutron star to make the settlement to abandon?) so will spend the week poking around this wp as the conflux is apparently largely in need of exploring.

I learned you can fly a fighter through them with no effect unlike the SRV which will go flying.

I'm kinda off the beaten path... took a detour and I'm heading back to WP3. Currently in Nyeajee YH-H d11-18. Does it make sense for me to still look for geysers out there, or is the search region closer to the way points?

Yesterday I completely figured out the EXTool utility. Guys, nothing needs to be written down on a piece of paper, no coordinates and POI types. Everything works in automatic mode. Moreover, you can make maps of the planets using 6 screenshots also in automatic mode. All finds are automatically uploaded to the server, where you can see everything, as well as see the finds of other pilots. If anyone is interested, ask. While everything is fresh in my memory I can tell you how to install it all.
For example: http://elite.laulhere.com/ExTool/index.php?mode=pois&planet=PW2010 299 4 a

I have everything installed, but i'm not sure how to capture the screenshots. The website doesn't really help. I have QWERTY autohot key script running, but from there I don't really understand what i have to do.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm on Xbox One so I still have to write everything down. My big thing to write down is figuring out what region I'm in for the form, I'm basically guessing. :(

Notice:

All Day*: For those who can't make those times you can use the score sheet above to keep track of your three attempts. This allows for peple to take part all weekend long. Check the sheet to make sure
your height still remains at the top!

Live Event**: For the live event, members of the Geo/Bio department will be on hand to participate, answer any questions and just join in on the fun.

Scoring***: You can jump any many times as you want but you will only allow to be put your three best heights, or height of choices in the score sheet.

Geo Sites****: We have chosen geo sites 5 & 6. This is due to the fact that sometimes geysers just like to be uncooperative. Site 5 is the main choice, and it is in darkness around those times.
Site 6 is a little bit less active but will be in light during these times.

Voice Chat: DW2 Wing 3

Wee! More geyser fun.

My personal lifetime record is unofficial, but still an impressive 5.4 km altitude (on a 0.03G moon). I'm curious to see the scores we'll get on this 0.05 Gee moon.

Me as well. It'll be nicer this time since everything is already settled and from what I saw during that timeframe, there should be some great geyser activity going on. The second planet we found for the first event was much better and I wished I'd gone there first. Record on the planet was 11ish KM

Yesterday I completely figured out the EXTool utility.

This is pretty nifty! Thanks for mentioning this tool. Mostly it works automagically, about the only thing you have to do manually is enter the number of POIs. The screenshots thing is completely optional and I haven't bothered with it yet; partially because I mostly fly in VR these days and screenshots in VR are a bit meh.
