Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Alpha Rollout Plan

So, when do we get to walk inside our spaceships?
When there is something other than the 5 minute walk between the exit and the cockpit and the thirty minute tour of the rest of the Sidewinder to do in them and hopefully that something is not just play laser quest.

Will I be able to decommision my FC before phase 4 start? Or does odyssey expand in any way FC?
It depends on when they take the snapshot to use for phase 4 which might well be two weeks before phase 4 which isn't helpful as we don't know for certain how long until phase 4.

Yeah I could think of some things:
  • Decorating your ship (More stuff to sell, Frontier!!! :D)
  • Tuning modules perhaps? Stuff you can modify but only in person so you can't use it in combat. Fixing damage in person. Would be great to float (we're in zero-G of course) around your ship after a battle to attend to crisis situations
  • Attending to whiney passengers in person (can we please please have the option to space them? :ROFLMAO:)
  • Meeting with group members to show off all the stuff we bought in the frontier store, and discuss our plans for galaxy domination.
  • Maybe repelling boarders but like you say that'll be less interesting for me. And would seriously change the dynamics of combat.
PS: I'm only half joking about more stuff to sell, I'd kinda like to be able to sink a bit more into ED like SC players are doing. Unlike them Frontier has proven to know what they're doing and building great stuff on time on tight budgets so they deserve it. But I really have all the paintjobs I want.

But also really I'd love to see more of my ship. See where I sleep and all :p And go to the can. I wonder if part of the reason is that the designers painted themselves into a corner a bit - I assume the loadout with the different modules and cargo grids may not be physically possible in all ship models. The only ship that seems more fleshed out than the cockpit itself is the Anaconda: You can see some internals when it's damaged and you can also see some hallways and doors through the windows.

PS: Frontier please reconsider cutting out VR  It adds so much. I know mobility is a problem with motion sickness and all but it's pretty much a solved problem for other games :)

Lol well it feels like it's taking 10 years to get here. No sign of it on the launcher yet; anyone know what time it's due to be released?
It's posted on the forums:
"We're aiming for the Alpha to be available for download at 11AM BST/10AM UTC on Monday 29th March."

...aaaand it's postponed a little.

Cleary they had a prerelease party last night and keep putting both feet into one leg of their Explorer suit 😁

I Don't know making improvements already without us. Oh well I had kind of scheduled my day so I could hit the download sometime between 11-12 and have it done by the time I got back. To be honest having been on a few of these I thought I was being a bit overzealous. No worries back at 6 to see how its going if its going by then.
